My Review: 

The third book in the Cornish Cove series, and what a great return to Driftwood Bay. Whilst each can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading all in this series, you will enjoy getting to learn about this wonderful community and the variety of interesting, interconnected characters that provide such interesting stories.

Kim Nash has created one of those wonderful, fictional places where I would love to visit (and lets face it, I’d want some rom-com style romance that would mean I stay forever!)

This book focuses on Lydia, a five times married woman in advancing years, who is keen to build a better relationship with her daughter, Meredith. She is looking to find herself, a version of herself that doesn’t need a man or the complication of romance.

Opportunities arise that help her reconnect with passions from her past, dancing. She could have made something of her talent, but life got in the way. Being in Driftwood Bay and the memories being unearthed whilst reconnecting with Meredith provides a chance to relive her youth and enter a dancing competition with Clems Dad and local repairer, and friend, Martin. With a new friend next door, Dianne, providing some light relief and support, Lydia’s time in Driftwood Bay is going well until an accident threatens to ruin everything.

Serious issues are threaded throughout the story but it’s feel-good, heartfelt and a wonderful read. I love Lydia’s character now – at one time I wasn’t that fond of the impression we got of her if I’m honest, so I’m pleased this book changed that.

A book that made me laugh, made me feel emotional and hopeful for all characters; it’s lovely to see how characters are getting on despite it being Lydias story.

Highly recommended!

My Review:

A charming read, especially for animal and romance fans. It was great to read the first in a new series by Della Galton, and a new setting in the scenic New Forest. Puddleduck Farm is run by Phoebe’s Grandmother (Maggie) and is a rescue for a wide range of animals, who each have their own personalities and quirks. Phoebe notices a change in Maggie and starts to worry that things are not going well and that her grandmother may be overdoing things.

Phoebe is back after a heartbreak and I enjoyed getting to know her, understand her way of thinking and meet the people she has in her life, hopefully characters we will be in the future. We see the friendships she can rely on, the potential for romance – even in surprising places - and I thought it was interesting how the character wasn’t rushed into a new romance for the sake of it, much better to see how the character settles to such big life upheavals and that she wants to focus on herself.

There is a lot happening within this book, including many themes that are being carefully woven into one story but this is done well by the author. I enjoyed the animal antics and will look forward to hearing more about some of the characters. A must read for many, I highly recommend.

My Review:

As a huge fan of Jessica Redland, I couldn’t wait to start this wonderful, festive romance. I have to admit there is seems to be an awful lot of tragedy and heartbreak in this story, I was concerned there would be no happiness or romance at all, but I didn’t need to worry. Although Snowflakes Over The Starfish Café is a great portrayal of loss, it is a glorious story of love and overcoming challenges and fears in order to achieve your dreams or mend your heart. A classic tale of finding happiness, or love, where you least expect it.

I enjoyed this new setting and all the characters and hope we will return, although fans of her previous books will not be disappointed as there may just be some familiarity.

Hollie and Jake are interesting, complex characters, both understanding and connecting through loss and pain. With some mystery as to what Jake gets up to on a Monday, his reason for it is incredible. There is so much packed into this book, you’ll get swept away by Hollie and her commitment to what her Mum started, bowled over by Jake and his determination.

Be prepared with some tissues for this emotional ride. Highly recommended!

My Review:

A jam-packed romance with characters you will love and root for every step of the way! It is a story of personal growth, discovering yourself and dealing with tragedy and adversity. Heartwarming and endearing.

Eleanor is a great character, she is far from perfect, but she is likeable. She faces a lot of challenges and decides to ‘run away.’ Doing so means discovering fresh heartache but also new opportunities and we see how Eleanor makes the most of things, supports herself and takes care of those around her. She builds relationships within the (divided) community in Becky and Alice and makes it her mission to reunite the town and stop all the madness she witnesses during her stay.

Daniel is a brilliant character – he’s grieving and still puts others first. His dedication and love for baby Hope is so sweet. I love the way he helps Eleanor and gently nudges her in the right direction. It isn’t a story about love at first sight by a long way. It’s fair to say things are a little awkward at first but before long Daniel and Eleanor have a lovely bond and easy friendship and have created a great care system for baby Hope. As Eleanor works on making dreams come true, Daniel allows her free reign to do what is needed. How supportive!

When her past starts to catch up with her, Eleanor’s new life may be in jeopardy and the relationships she has nurtured during her stay may be torn apart.

I loved it... and I never read a book set fairly locally (although the town of Ferrington is fictional it is based locally) and there was even a mention for the mighty Mansfield Town FC (Come on you STAGS!)

Cleverly written and nicely paced, there Is so much happening but I felt the story played out in a nice way and I didn’t discover everything all in one go. As a story with multiple threads, they are cleverly woven so that I was always interested and wanted to read more.

I’ve never read anything by this author but I shall be rectifying that pretty quickly. I definitely recommend this fantastic story; romance, drama, humour with a little bit of mystery involved. What’s not to enjoy!

My Review:

A truly lovely, sweet and romantic story with dual timelines – that of Molly finding true, lasting love and Izzie her granddaughter, discovering secrets and healing her own personal wounds.

Upon her beloved grandmothers death, Izzie returns to her bungalow with the intention to clear it out, redecorate and sell up. Discovering an old diary reveals a heart-breaking story that had long been buried; all whilst Izzie is coming to terms with her own loss she must also face up to the future. She runs into long lost love, Justin and is still hurt by what did or did not happen in the past.

As much as I enjoyed Izzie’s story and her reconnecting with Justin, and finding herself again; I was completely swept up in Molly’s story. I could have just read a whole book on her and the Blackshaw twins.. I was hooked.

This book is very well written, so engaging, I liked the characters and didn’t feel anything was overly complicated or distracting. It’s a heartwarming story full of love, loss and truth.

A gorgeous, relaxing read. Highly recommended.

Lancashire born, I moved to Bedfordshire in the late seventies, married and started a family. I’m a past Hon Sec of the Romantic Novelists’ Association, have been a member since 1993 when I joined their New Writers’ Scheme as a probationer. That came about after winning a week’s historical writing course on the strength of the first chapter of my third Poldark-era romance. The tutor on the last day loved the story and handed me details of the Romantic Novelists’ Association – she said I absolutely must join as they would be able to help me towards publication.

My Review:

I am a huge fan of the author and especially this book series. It is the sixth book in the Love Heart Lane Series although written so it can be a standalone as they all are. I would recommend reading the others, just because they are such great stories, but that isn’t necessary to follow the storyline or get to know these main characters (I did love hearing a little about one’s we’ve already heard from though!)

Molly is the successful, confident, and popular local vet. She has almost everything she wants in life but feels there may be one thing missing and it might be time to do something about it. She’s known locally as the dog whisperer and wants to put these talents to use by setting up dog behaviour classes in Primrose Park. As she is always determined to be the best at whatever she does, she goes on a course at a local hotel. There she literally bumps into the man of her dreams and after one amazing night they part ways and Molly goes back to work on her business.

When Molly bumps into this mystery man again her world changes in the most unexpected ways, the problem? The man isn’t exactly how she remembers him, in fact she barely recognises him. Getting the community together to help her cause Molly isn’t afraid of standing up for herself or others, but does she really want to do everything alone or is she hoping to get him involved.

I really liked Molly, she’s not shy and not one for mixing her words. She’s capable and puts other peoples’ feelings before her own, to her detriment sometimes. She’s not necessarily good at following advice though as she is headstrong and determined once she gets an idea in her head. I was hoping she would be the one to help poor Dixie – whose own daughter was truly awful beyond words- they had a lovely relationship.

Cam is a difficult leading man, I wanted to really love him, but I have to admit at first I didn’t really warm to him, especially with how badly he acted toward Molly. I was 100% on her side and felt that she deserved better but as his story came to light, I saw the type of person he could be and I changed my mind.  They did have a great chemistry and testament to Christie Barlow’s writing, Cam won me over by the end.

A quick shout out for Darling. I absolutely loved this crazy dog although I’d be wearing my wellies around him. Darling added some funny moments but turned into quite the hero too!

Always great to be back in this community setting, I feel like I could visit and know all the locals and each book uncovers more. Christie has created a wonderful, caring community that I love returning to time and time again.

The writing flows nicely and the story moves a long at a great pace. I found this visit to be dramatic and yet still able to make me laugh and smile whilst reading. It only took me a few hours to sit and read this in one glorious sitting, I can’t recommend highly enough – a wonderful bit of escapism. Jump into Primrose Park if you want a nice summer read.

Christie Barlow goes from strength to strength; I always look forward to her next read. Primrose Park is brilliant, and I highly recommend.

My Review:

Rosie Green never disappoints with this series, its one I look forward to the most. Each visit to this lovely community and it’s residents is heart-warming, full of ups and downs, a show of friendship and spirit and ALWAYS leaves your mouth watering!

I loved the introduction of a few new characters this time, it can always just add to the brilliant characters we have grown to know and love. If you haven’t read any of the series previously it can be read as a standalone, it does have references to things in previous books but nothing that is not explained enough within this story.

My affection for Anita wasn’t instant this time, more a slow burn over the whole book - she is a lovely girl and by the end I was cheering her on but I struggled with her attitude to her potential health issues and just didn’t connect at first. I adored her young son, Rufus, who brought some light and funny moments.

I enjoyed her relationship with some of the other characters, both in a friendly capacity and a romantic way. I thought Sven was an ‘interesting’ character but wasn’t too sure how a romance would work between the two.

Ross is a genuinely lovely character, obviously committed and kind, a considerate young man and supportive of Anita. He may be young but what a wise and mature head on his shoulders. I’m a big fan of his!

Again the bakery and the teaching element of this story is brilliant – I feel like I could actually have a go at making sourdough myself now!

A wonderful catch up with friends old and new; always nice to be back and I will look forward to the next visit.

My Review:

Dana, Logan, and their four-year-old daughter Kelsey attend a family BBQ.  Tragedy occurs when Kelsey’s favourite bear goes missing and the family must keep going despite Dana’s world blowing apart around her and her realising, she doesn’t know who she is able to trust.

From the start, the book is an emotive read. It is very dramatic – so much relationship, friendship and family drama in one book. I will say I was kept interested because I wanted to see how it all would turn out.

I found the book is well paced and quick to read, it held my attention well enough to power through in one sitting.  

Whilst I didn’t personally gel with the characters, I could feel for Dana and how everyone else was towards her. The point is that you aren’t supposed to like all the characters I guess, so in that the author has done well. I think the dislike of characters means you are suspicious of them all, which for this style of book is great.

Although it wouldn’t be something I would read again, as a psychological thriller I felt it delivered some interesting twists along the way.

My Review:

This is an emotive book, with serious and heart-breaking content that may make some readers feel upset or quite sensitive. The Night We Met is a novel about a woman dying from cancer that asks her husband to write their complete love story for their daughters.

Yes the premise of this book is so sad, heart-breaking when we realise there are children who are losing a parent far too young, but it is a book littered with love and the idea that true love will always find a way.

The book is written in the now but also through varying points in the past from multiple locations. It demonstrates the lives the characters have led and how they were always intertwined before they were even together. I quite enjoyed reading things from different perspectives, I think you really get to understand the character this way. It was easy to follow and so well written, you didn’t feel like you were jumping around too much but more like they were snapshots into the past. As our characters travels we are taken from Australia to New Zealand to Milan, London, Switzerland, it’s like we are on our own armchair travels too.

This is a beautiful read, one of those ultimate love stories that show how time and maturity is all that is needed sometimes. Folbigg gives us a read that shows how love can be “at first sight” even if it takes time to realise this.

I loved the characters, Olivia is a sparky, interesting young girl but matures into a passionate woman; Daniel is full of heart and falls completely for her. I loved him and felt so sorry for what they were going through.

This book will hook you in and take you on an emotional rollercoaster, a special tale of love, friendship and of families and the many ways they can be created.
