A Winter Warmer at the Little Cornish Kitchen - Jane Linfoot

St Aidan: a cosy Cornish village where friendships are made for life and it’s always cocktail hour somewhere…

A clean slate in the world’s cosiest cottage by the sea…

When Gwen Starkey and her best friend, Ella Simpson, arrive in St Aidan to take on a cottage renovation, it’s the fresh start they both so desperately need. But when their new adventure begins with them unintentionally breaking into their neighbour, Ollie Lancaster’s cottage – thinking it’s their new home – and Gwen accidentally flashing the gorgeous Ollie before they flee, the life-long friends realise that life in Cornwall is going to be anything but quiet!

They also quickly discover that they’re in over their heads and it’s going to take a village to turn their cottage’s narrow walls into the luxurious hideaway of their dreams. St Aidan is full of colourful characters just waiting to welcome them, if only Gwen and Ella can find the courage to start leaving the past behind them…

My Review:

A delight to be back in St Aiden, with characters old and new, Jane Linfoot has created a idyllic sounding community with another story full of ups, downs, laughter and romance of course.

Ella and Gwen are following a dream, both wanting to enjoy a new start by the coast in a favourite village from their childhood but have perhaps “oversold” themselves when in competition to get the cottage of their dreams (or so they think!) Promises have been made  and the villagers are regularly keen to see what Ella and Gwen can do. Both are recovering from heartbreak, can a simple renovation project help heal their hearts?

Upon their arrival to St Aiden they soon discover things are not exactly what they seem; an abrupt meeting with a neighbour and a realisation of the task they’ve taken on.

Ollie is the new neighbour, he has his own secrets and own history that he is working through but it doesn’t stop him always being there for Gwen when she needs him, even if he doesn’t quite take to community life as she does.

Gwen thrives in this small close knit community, slowly but surely she starts to rediscover parts of herself, with the help of our ‘Mermaid’ friendship group. Honestly you will be hungry throughout this book, with wonderful descriptions of yummy foods and tasty treats.

I am a massive fan of Jane’s and thoroughly enjoy every book; this trip to St Aiden was a pleasure and although romance was plentiful it was slow, steady and allowed other issues to be resolved. It was well paced, characters that were realistic and likeable.

A book to curl up with this winter, make sure you enjoy it with a hot choc and treat!

Author Bio:

I write fun, flirty fiction, with feisty heroines, and lots of heart. Writing is fab, because I get to wear pretty shoes instead of wellies. I live in a cottage up the steepest hill in Derbyshire, where my family and pets are kind enough to ignore the chaos. Happily, we're in walking distance of a supermarket. I love hearts, flowers, happy endings, all things vintage, most things French. When I'm not on Facebook, and can't find an excuse for shopping, I'll be out with my two Old English sheepdogs or in the garden. On days when I want to be really scared, I ride a tandem.

BLOGTOUR: A Cosy Christmas in Cornwall BY Jane Linfoot

A December to remember…

Christmas in a Cornish castle? Sign Ivy Starforth up! Hired to kit out the holiday rental as the world’s most Instagramable festive dreamland, there’s only one thing standing in the way of her hefty paycheque – the lord of the manor.
Bill Markham could give Scrooge a run for his money but Ivy is firmly #TeamChristmas…even if her handsome host seems to be doing everything he can to sabotage her staging. Maybe she shouldn’t have stumbled in on him starkers in the hot tub?
As the temperature outside cools, things inside the castle heat up. It’s been a long time since Ivy allowed herself to give in to temptation…surely one little kiss under the mistletoe won’t hurt?

My Review:

An absolute charm of a book from the brilliant Jane Linfoot. It’s a gorgeous, festive treat that will have you feel all warm and fuzzy for days after the end. Jane is always one of my go -to authors and this book is just as wonderful and every previous offering. I adored this book, I couldn’t read it fast enough and I know it will be one I go back and read again.

Wonderful to be back in Cornwall and around St Aiden again; if you have read any of Jane’s books you may recognise a few places. There is no cross over with any of the other stories though so don’t worry if you are new to Jane’s books.

A Cosy Christmas in Cornwall gives you everything you need in a book – humour, heart and a healthy amount of drama; you’ll be laughing one minute and feeling emotional the next a wonderful, heartfelt story.

Ivy is a wonderful character, fierce yet vulnerable. She has no qualms about speaking her mind all whilst she hides her own insecurities. Being hired by her best friends’ sister to “style” an instagramable Christmas in a hired castle, Ivy has perfect opportunity to use her creativity to make this festive season bearable.

Bill the Castle’s caretaker knows Ivy from years earlier and it is evident he was fond of her previously. A lot has happened to both characters in the time since, both have things they keep to themselves for various reasons. Bill is very anti-everything Ivy tires to do but he does reluctantly help her out. He is a puzzle; I was on his side throughout and knew he would be good for Ivy if she could learn to let him in a bit but couldn’t figure out what he was not telling her.

As the book progressed, we learn more about the lives of our characters, more about their problems and there are revelations that may change their relationships forever. There are a lot of characters involved in A Cosy Cornish Christmas and it does seem very chaotic, but I really think this adds to the story, it adds some comedic fun.

I really cannot recommend this delightful book enough, its perfect to cosy up and read. It has everything you need and more. Another masterpiece by Jane Linfoot; I’m already looking forward to more.

Author Bio:

Jane Linfoot is a best selling author, who lives in a cottage on a Derbyshire hillside with her family and their pets. Although she loves seeing cow noses over the garden wall, she’s happy she can walk to a supermarket.

Jane grew up in North Yorkshire where she spent a lot of her childhood avoiding horizontal gales blowing off the sea and wrote her first book by accident. While she loves to write feel good books that let readers escape, she’s always surprised to hear her stories make people laugh, admits to (occasionally) crying as she writes, and credits her characters for creating their own story lines.

Jane’s garden would be less brambly if she wasn’t on Facebook and Twitter so often. On days when she wants to be really scared, she rides a tandem.

Her recent stand alone novels are all set in and around the (imaginary) seaside village of St Aidan in Cornwall. They are: Ivy’s Cornish Christmas, Edie’s Browne’s Cottage by the Sea, The Little Cornish Kitchen. Her four book Little Wedding Shop series are standalone stories, also set in St Aidan. They are: The Little Wedding Shop by the Sea, Christmas at the Little Wedding Shop, Summer at the Little Wedding Shop and Christmas Promises at the Little Wedding Shop. They are all published by the Harper Impulse and One More Chapter imprints of Harper Collins.

BLOGTOUR: Review of Edie Browne's Cottage by the Sea - Jane Linfoot

Edie Browne’s Cottage by the Sea

Those who don’t jump will never fly…
Hurtling through the sky was supposed to be Edie Browne’s flight of independence. But when she falls head over champagne bucket while celebrating her successful landing, her life is changed in an instant.

But starting over has its benefits, and as Edie relearns the basics under the watchful eye of her Aunty Josie and an entire Cornish village of new friends and neighbours, she finds love and joy she never could have imagined in the unlikeliest of places…

Come home to St Aidan and Periwinkle Cottage for a romance full of love, laughter and friends for life!
***********************************************************************************************
I am eternally grateful for that one-day last summer when I checked out a Jane Linfoot book from the library and opened a brand-new world of wonderful books by this incredible author. From that initial book loan, I quickly devoured every other book I could get my hands on.
To say I’m a fan is an understatement. When I got a top-secret email from the lovely Rachel at Rach’s Random Resources, asking if I’d like to be on the book tour for Jane's new book – I don’t think I could reply quick enough!!

My Review:
I was very excited to read that Edie Browne's Cottage by the Sea was set in St Aiden (if you are a fan of Jane’s work you will share that excitement!) If I could live in St Aiden I would, no doubt. I knew it would be a great trip back to a community that has already given us so many adventures and I couldn’t wait to see what was in store for Edie Browne.

It was comforting to get started, back in the safe hands of Jane – who has a wonderful writing style. She writes stories with great heart, with an abundance of humour yet with moments of great sensitivity, of course you have glorious, uplifting romance but also strong stories of friendship, community and of the compassion of others when you are in need.
I thought the inclusion of each ‘epic achievement’ was inspired. I don’t want to give away too much, but I loved seeing what Edie Browne managed next. I enjoyed her progression throughout the book, and it made me consider that what may be epic is to one person is totally different to another.

Life had dealt Edie a massive blow and she must spend time ‘starting over’- a huge step forward in doing this is going to stay with her Aunt Josie in St Aiden. Her Aunt also reaps the benefit of having Edie around, so its a mutually beneficial arrangement.

Having previous experience with St Aiden I already knew how amazing the people who live there are but yet again we discover that no matter what Edie and Josie try to do to distance themselves, the locals are a gorgeous bunch that are kind, caring, full of fun and most of all take the two ladies into their hearts instantly.  It is their support that really helps Edie progress and make great inroads into getting back to her normal self.

I was a fan of Barney from the moment we were introduced. What a cool guy – to let things progress naturally, be a source of support and understanding and for being a great role model for young Cam.

Edie’s relationship with Cam is EVERYTHING. It was gorgeous to read the two of them together, funny, cute and so simple, with all that she has been through to meet a 6-year-old that is on her level is just one of the perfect elements to this story. Jane gave us a relationship that goes above and beyond the others.

I adored everything this book is and what it stands for – acceptance, perseverance, following your heart and being true to yourself. I love how Jane combines the highs and lows of their journey; one moment I was laughing, the next feeling quite emotional.  Well written characters who you fall in love with, root for and would love to meet again.

I cannot recommend this book enough, a heart-warming treat that will have you smiling throughout and for days after. Take a trip to St Aiden this summer, you’ll love it there.
